Courses
ACP Accounting I (Year-long course)
Students planning on majoring in the field of business should take this course. This course exposes the student to the entire accounting cycle for a sole proprietorship, partnerships, and corporations. The course provide a balance of accounting theory, drills on principles, application problems and introduces automated accounting for the realistic approach to accounting principles. One Credit
ACP Accounting II (Year-long course)
This course emphasizes corporate accounting such as financial analysis, break-even and cost accounting. The course provides drill on principles, reinforcement activities and a business simulation for a corporation of a merchandising business. Many of the problems are automated which offers realistic experience in accounting procedures including the use of spreadsheets. (Prerequisite: Accounting I) One Credit
CP Business Management (Semester course)
This course provides the latest facts and figures, explores the major operations, and reflects the trends in policies and procedures of business management. Through a workbook, which is directly related to the textbook and end-of-the-chapter management problems, the student learns how to evaluated and apply facts: consequently, the student is guided to develop judgment. The student is left with a realization that it takes more than facts and figures to make a successful businessman. The course involves a broad coverage of: 1) principles of business management, 2) marketing and merchandising management, 3) financial management, 4) production management, 5) personnel and human relations, 6) internal financial management, 7) government regulations, and 8) planning a career in business. One-half Credit
CP Principles of Marketing (Semester course)
This semester course is designed to introduce the students to the basics of marketing on the retail, wholesale, and industrial levels. It will deal with the functions of marketing, its characteristics in modern society, market trends, marketing and human behavior, and marketing research. Students will use computer technology by applying the marketing techniques they learn in creating presentations developed in Microsoft PowerPoint 5.0 and Microsoft Word. One-half Credit
E-Commerce (Semester course)
E-commerce will explore the world of electronic business from its early days, drawing upon similarities and differences to the industrial revolution through the retail store, as we know it. The student will be exposed to management techniques, marketing, promotion, distribution, finance, customer service, security, and the legal aspects of starting and succeeding in the future of business, E-Commerce. (Prerequisites: None) One-half Credit
Small Business Management (Semester course)
Small Business Management is continuation of E-Commerce, examining the world of entrepreneurship. From the developing of the business plan, locating and financing of the business, identifying its market, managing of the business and its personnel, marketing (conventional and on-line), the importance of a quality product, at a fair price, and the need to profit while maintaining strong ethics and social values. (Prerequisites: None) One-half Credit
